We took a tip from Kalifie in Pondi, to take a trip to Mamallapuram, or Mahabalipuram. This is a town on a strip of land between Pondicherry and Chennai Tamil Nadu. It’s known for its temples and monuments built, or rather carved (from granite) and built by the Pallava dynasty in the 7th and 8th centuries. The seafront Shore Temple comprises 3 ornate granite shrines.
You can read more about the vast history and depictions here, fascinating, and impressive that all the monuments and structures were carved out of granite
